As you can see, spring hasn’t quite hit New England yet. In fact, my small town got hit with five more inches of snow just yesterday when only a dusting was expected. But that hasn’t stopped me from dreaming of springtime and warm weather! I am so ready to be done with snow forever and be able to get outside again without being absolutely freezing. It’s ironic that I ended up in New England, because I actually hate the cold and dread the thought of winter each year. I guess the hope of spring is enough to keep me going for that awful amount of time where below zero temperatures and random blizzards reign. With that hope in mind, I’m excited to share a few of my favorite makeup products for spring!
Honestly, I’ve been using the majority of these projects since winter started, but all of these make me think of spring with light colors and peachy tones.
I’ll start this post off with one of my favorites, Too Faced’s Sweet Peach palette. This eyeshadow palette goes for $49, and while that is a little pricey, I think it’s totally worth it for the quality of the product. After hearing so much talk about it, I knew I had to try it out for myself. I have quite a few palettes from Too Faced so far, and I am never disappointed. I was finally able to get my hands on this one around December, and I am so glad I did! I’ve been using Sweet Peach for a while now, but I think it’s the perfect product for spring because of the beautiful peachy colors! Each eyeshadow is infused with a peach scent as well, and I can’t help but imagine warmer weather whenever I apply them.
Speaking of eyeshadows, Loreal’s Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Amber Rush is another product that is perfect for spring. This velvety cream eyeshadow goes for around $7.95, making it a great drugstore find! I love Amber Rush the best, but there are also a multitude of other shades to choose from. I personally use these eyeshadows as a base for my other powder eyeshadows, but I also think Amber Rush looks beautiful just on its own. If I have a day when I’m hurrying and don’t want to spend a lot of time on eye makeup, I just stick a little of this on with some mascara and call it a day. I think bright, shiny eyeshadows are great for spring, and this one is no exception.
I guess you could say that peach just makes me think of spring! Too Faced’s Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Peach Beach is a blush I have been reaching for most often lately. I love this blush, which costs $30, because it gives just the right amount of color without being too overbearing and clownish. I love a good pigmented blush, but at the same time, it’s much easier to work with a blush that you are able to carefully build. As someone with super dry skin, especially right now with this dry winter air, I appreciate any product that has a little shimmer in it to give the appearance of more hydrated skin. I love the way that this gives me the flush I am looking for!
Up next is a product that I am so excited to have found this year, IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination. That name is a mouthful, but this foundation, which sells for $38, has been a lifesaver for me. Like I mentioned above, I tend to have extremely dry skin during the winter, so I need all the help I can get to make my skin look at least a little hydrated. I know this might turn some people off, but I like the fact that there is a little shimmer in this cream foundation because it gives the illusion of healthy, glowing skin. Because of my dry skin, it’s hard to find a foundation that doesn’t go patchy on my face. This is the first foundation I’ve tried that doesn’t do that. The product skims over my drier patches and overall makes my skin look better, which is what a good foundation is supposed to do. When I think of spring I think of renewal, and because this foundation really does make my skin look renewed, I thought this was a great choice to put on my list of spring makeup.
Finally, I can’t end this post without talking about lip products! I picked this lip gloss from Anastasia Beverly Hills in Dusty Lilac, which costs $16, because I think it’s a great pinky purple color for spring. I tend to go for lip colors that are nude or pink anyway, but just in general, I think pink is a pretty color that reminds me of springtime. Something that impressed me about this lip gloss in particular is the fact that it is very opaque without having to apply the gloss a hundred times. For whatever reason, I’ve noticed that lip glosses tend to be pretty transparent, so I love the fact that you need very little product to achieve a nice color. It’s reassuring as well that you can apply the color and not have to worry about it coming off immediately as you go about your day.
So there you have it, those are my picks for spring makeup this year! I hope you enjoyed the post. I’d also like to give a shout out to my little sister who let me use her arm for swatches haha. Feel free to comment below with your own spring favorites! Not that I need any more makeup, but I am always excited to try out new products and add them to my collection!
